Botero in Venice: at the Palazzo Ducale and around the city

From 13 April, the work of the Colombian artist (born in Medellin in 1932) will be showing in Venice. As well as twenty five large paintings displayed at the Palazzo Ducale, around twenty sculptures will be set up along the Canale Grande and other parts of the city such as the airport and the Centro Culturale Candiani in Mestre.

Representing men, women and animals, all the statues are of large scale and were made between 1987 and the present and until 8 June will be changing the face of the city. Fernando Botero’s paintings depict men and women picnicking or on the beach, at a bullfight, out dancing with portraits of a cardinal, Adam and Eve and a nude woman bathing.
