Como: homage to Mario Radice

With two exhibitions (open until 26 January), the city of Como plays homage to the famous painter Mario Radice, illustrating through a series of major works, his career and artistic approach. The exhibition, curated by Luciano Caramel, is organised in two sections: a retrospective in the Salone del Broletto begins with the early figurative work from the thirties and runs up to the abstract evolution which characterised the seventies.

In the Casa del Fascio (today headquarters of the Guardia di Finanza) is instead a collection of designs and studies of the murals carried out for the two halls in the building in 1936-37, the Salone delle Adunate and the Sala del Direttorio. An intervention which, destroyed after the war, will be reconstructed and represented through a series of photographic reconstructions in memory of one of the few examples in Italy of a collaboration between abstract painting and modern architecture. A chance also to highlight Radice’s work with Terragni, as well as with Kandinsky, Ozenfant, Le Corbusier and the Dutch.
