Face/OFF: portrait of the artist

A small but interesting exhibition at Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge aims to show the less conventional aspect of the portrait, in this case the portrait of the artist. Which doesn’t necessarily have to show a face. Even though many of the works on show were not originally conceived as self portraits, they constitute a way of reflecting on the notion of the changing identity and the role of the artist. Made using a range of different media, they represent a heterogeneous depiction of ways of dealing with the subject, rather than a coherent and univocal solution.

Artists showing include: Elina Brotherus, Kate Davies, Keith Edmier, Tracey Emin, Tom Friedman, Peter Harris, Emma Kay, Scott King, Sean Landers, Michael Landy, Marc Quinn, Paul Noble, Jemima Stehli, Stuart Taylor, Sam Taylor-Wood, Amikam Toren, Gavin Turk, Gillian Wearing.
