Enrico Baj: imagination and creativity
Around seventy pictures bear witness to the more profound, ironic, poetic and social aspects of work which is illuminated by invention and the imagination. The exhibition dedicated to Enrico Baj covers a relatively long time span, from 1955 up to the present, touching on all the various periods of artistic growth of the Milanese painter: from the time of the Movimento per l’Arte Nucleare, founded with Sergio Dangelo in 1951, to that of the Istituto Patafisico in Milan (created in 1962), up to the ‘furniture’, ‘mirrors’, ‘checkerboards’, ‘mechanics’ and ‘contaminations’ which combine with the subject of civic commitment against violence and degradation.
On then to the first works from the nuclear period - ‘generali’ (1960), ‘parate militari’, ‘Funerali dell’anarchico Pinelli’ (1972) and ‘Giardino delle delizie’ up to the more recent ‘Pudding’. Accompanying the exhibition is a catalogue with writings by Jean-Clarence Lambert, Ugo Nespolo and Mark Kostabi.
