Marco Lodola’s sculptural homage to a beer

A gigantic horse measuring three metres by five, made of sheet metal, plexiglas and neon and formed by luminous coloured cards, tells the 150-year story of the mythic “man with the moustache”.
A tutta birra is the ironic name chosen for the sculpture by Marco Lodola and dedicated to the Moretti brewery entrepreneur, Venceslao Menazzi Moretti. On July 4, at a grand festival for the city of Udine, the work will be officially unveiled at its site in the park formerly occupied by the original brewery that made the famous beer.

Lodola’s collaboration with Moretti follows commissions for other major brands like Swatch, Coca Cola, Dash, Illy and Premio Nonino. “The horse is intended to contain a story, like a sort of Trojan Horse illustrating the story of Moretti beer”, explains Lodola. “I see art as a way of communicating at all levels, by mixing such varied idioms as music, cinema, literature and advertising”.
