8 basketball hoops that could be in Space Jam 2

Architect Yongwook Seong imagined a series of wild and anomalous scenarios in which to play basketball.

The first basketball game was held in the gym of the YMCA in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1891. Its inventor, James Naismith, nailed two fruit baskets to each end of the gym and explained to the participants that they had to throw the ball into the basket to score. 130 years later, the game of basketball has developed enormously. The NBA – the most important professional league in the world – is a brand that generates billions of euros every year and is considered an all-round social and cultural phenomenon.

The whole world is waiting for the animated film "Space Jam 2", in which the famous player Le Bron James – the protagonist of the story – is transported into the absurd world of the Looney Toons, and has to play a game of basketball with Bugs Bunny and his friends. The hoops designed by architect Yongwook Seong seem to come out of these fantastic scenarios. With his project title The Hoops, he imagines eight fantastic settings in which to play basketball. His images retrace the genealogy of the game and explore alternative and anomalous situations. The hoops are redesigned and set in uncontaminated natural landscapes.
