Fabio Fantolino designed a restaurant in Turin inspired by the 70s

Within the historical centre of Turin, Italian architect Fabio Fantolino designed Barca’s, a bar and restaurant filled with typical West Coast textures and textiles.

Barca’s bar and restaurant by Fabio Fantolino rises in the historical Borgo Nuovo district in Turin, northern Italy. It is set in a renovated XIX century building, where the main challenge was to bring an airy and welcoming feel to a smaller space. Large full-height windows overlooking the street were the key to overcoming the architect’s challenge.

The three-story restaurant is characterized by a consistent design that connects the first two floors. The white tones of the walls and objects interrupt giving way to blue fern wallpaper framed by American walnut wood. Furnishing elements contribute to the creation of a 70s atmosphere with custom-designed lighting and tables of different colour laminates.

A special focus was given to sofas and chairs with sea blue velvet, green dry cotton twill and hazel Alcantara. The underground level houses a more intimate and reserved area, where the dark shades of the walls is softened by the red melange tones of the seats. The space is punctuated by blue velvet screens and wooden panels.
