House in Valverde

The main features of the house by 35a studio di architettura in Valverde, Italy, are open spaces, its materials and the 45-degree rotation of the traditional roof.

Located in Lombardy, Italy, the house by 35a studio di architettura is immersed in a harmonious hilly landscape plenty of villages and castles, and in a flourishing nature made of woods and large cultivated areas. This small holiday home for a young couple was built on a 3,000 sqm piece of land with a slight slope. The house is located exactly on the grounds of an old pre-existing brick barn, demolished to leave room for the new building.

The main features of the house are open spaces, its materials and the 45-degree rotation of the traditional roof. The result is the creation of four identical, stereometric and trapezoidal sections. Materials are: reinforced concrete, used to eliminate any structural element and reduce the construction costs, which was placed using common yellow panels and leaved internally exposed; wood, used for a few elements – kitchen, bathroom door, furniture and window frames; helicoptered concrete with a quartz paste finishing for the floors.
