What do you know about Finland? Ex-satellite of Sweden and ex-farming country, that still today draws a great deal of its wealth from its forests, for a number of years now Finland has been flying high in terms of technology, it has the highest rate of literacy in the world and high levels of wellbeing all round. High standards that are also met in the field of design.

For those who would like to know more about architecture, design and music “made in Finland”, as from February 11 they are the focal point of “Experience Finland”, an exhibition curated by Arianna Callocchia who draws on the combined forces of the Ordine degli Architetti di Roma e provincia and Finnish architects, the Museum of Finnish Architecture in Helsinki, the Alvar Aalto Academy, Design Forum Finland and the National Institute of Architecture. The programme opens with Pekka Helin who on the 11th, in the conference hall at Acer, will be using his works to illustrate recent developments in Helsinki and in terms of Finnish society in general. It continues with two exhibitions “Finnish Architecture 0607”, twenty five Finnish architectural projects built between 2006 and 2007 and “Cool Dozen + Chair and Textile from Finland”, chairs, lamps and fabrics that bear witness to the influence of the school lead by designers such as Aalto, Tapiovaara and more recently Koskinen and Suppanen (at the Casa dell'Architettura until March 8).
