Isozaki in Bologna

The three elements of the scheme developed by Arata Isozaki, with Ove Arup and Italian practice M+T Partners, for the new railway station in Bologna.

A new station consisting of a luminous box, an electrothermal plant and a tube on two levels that connects them, housing a series of commercial activities. These are the three elements of the scheme developed by Arata Isozaki, with Ove Arup and Italian practice M+T Partners, for the new railway station in Bologna. The Japanese designer, with the concept of a bridge between the historic centre and the inner suburbs of the Bolognina, proposes to “rebuild the urban grid interrupted by the railway”. The new station will cost 340 million euros and may be finished by 2015. Elena Sommariva
