The first subject to be
addressed is that of schools, specifically
two nursery schools near Prato.
One of the two winners is Andrea Stipa,
who lives and works between Rome and
Siena, with Valerio Paolo Mosco. For the
school in Galcetello, Stipa has come up
with a compact building that opens onto
a surrounding garden which includes
an allotment for the children to grow
vegetables. The other winner is Mauro
Frate of Venice practice Architer, whose
design for the school in Ponzano comprises
six volumes with small areas of
garden and ateliers for “young farmers”. Elena Sommariva
