With the renovation of this apartment in the context of a historic building from the 1950s located in the Sagrada Familia district in Barcelona, Barri Studio primarily responds to the need for a reconfiguration of the interior spaces, indulging a contemporary lifestyle.
The main transformation involves the elimination of a bedroom and the expansion of the living areas into a single open space developed longitudinally, where the kitchen, dining area and living room follow one another in a sequence whose organicity is guaranteed precisely by the choice of materials, reduced to a minimum but, for this reason, extremely convincing.
The expansion of the living areas into a single open space and the choice of materials, minimized and extremely convincing, ensure the organicity of a new sequence.
The oak wood of the parquet floor, in dark shades tending toward hazelnut tones, stretches along the whole flooring of the house (including the bathrooms where it is interrupted only to make room for the shower top) creating an almost velvety effect, recalled in the furniture of the living area, particularly in the kitchen cabinets and shelving, and again in the semi-oval dining table.
Balancing the important use of wood, are a series of elements made specifically for the apartment with a reinterpretation of the traditional Venetian terrazzo motif, this time no longer on the floor but presented in elevation.
The kitchen niche accommodates the sink and the induction hob as a true frame characterized by a delicate pattern with glass inlays, echoed in the table-end cabinet, and then again in the living area, in the top of a coffee table resting on two curved oak elements that recall the same supports as the dining table.
The terrazzo pattern returns in the bathrooms, with the slightest variations in color and size of the tiles, giving graphic continuity to the entire project.
Similarly, the curvilinear partitions and beveled furniture at the corners in the hallway recall the shape of the elements in the living area, creating ingenious little solutions, such as unexpected support points for plants and objects, and contributing to a fluid and dynamic space.
