Shrinking Cities

Large cities that die because they are conditioned by a static mono-functional economy, because they are confronted with more tempting conditions for development, because they are besieged by shapeless metropolitan development: the setting for the Berlin exhibition “Shrinking Cities” looks into the notion of cities in decline using a wide range of media.

For example in two videos by Kyong Park OldHouse/OldCityNewCity and Detroit: Making It Better For You (curated by Garret Linn and Manuela Tromben): a description through images of urban degradation in Detroit, the ex-world capital of car manufacturing. L.B.
