Lebbeus Woods: Experimental Architecture
Although he has never built anything, Lebbeus Woods has constantly explored the many sides of architecture through hundreds of experimental installations, group projects, teachings and workshops. Right from the start he attracted the attention of other architects thanks to his extraordinary drawing technique. Miniature scenes drawn in pencil and coloured crayons illustrate fantastical urban landscapes on the confines of reality.
The Carnegie Museum exhibition in Pittsburgh that Woods himself has designed is the first major show in the US dedicated to his work. As well as displaying his drawings, models and photographs, ‘Experimental Architecture’ exposes the author through a specially designed installation that Woods describes as “a drawing in space.” L.B.
