International Architecture Award Francesco Borromini
The first international competition set by the Comune di Roma aimed at architects, all over the world.
The award, which will be given every two years, is divided into two sections Premio Borromini and Premio Borromini Sezione Giovani (junior section, “under 41”), with prizes of 200 and 100 million lira respectively.
An international and high level jury is made up of Jean Baudrillard, Luciano Benetton, Jean Louis Cohen, Zaha Hadid, Paolo Portoghesi and Richard Rogers, presided over by the mayor of Rome Francesco Rutelli.
Just as high level for the Sezione Giovani: Domenico Cecchini, Shigeru Ban, Francesco Dal Co, Javier Mariscal and Carme Pinos.
Thirty “indicators” around the world will propose candidates they consider to be interesting, amongst them are Deyan Sudjic for Great Britain, Dietmar Steiner for Austria, and for Italy Mirko Zardini, Marco Brizzi and Livio Sacchi.
Entry open until 20 January. The ten finalists will be selected on 8-9 March and the winner will be announced on the 10-11 May.
