A workshop in Milan investigates the future of the kitchen by combining the skills of industrial design and architecture, with the analysis of social and eating habits. Organized by Frigo 2000 and Poli.Design - Politecnico di Milano, the third edition of Conviviality 4 Kitchen and Modern Living proposes four new visions for the kitchen of the future.

On the Italian page of Wikipedia are listed 104 cooking programs that in recent years have been broadcast on television. We can say that cooks are now the new TV stars, influencers and food bloggers the new culinary critics, and the act of preparing a meal is a spectacle to be spread on our social media channels. Despite the popularity of the ritual, which is a symbol of conviviality, people spend less and less time in front of the stoves, leaving the home environment empty and inactive.

Almost 100 years have passed since the Austrian architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky designed the legendary Frankfurt Kitchen, the first modular kitchen, for 10,000 social housing units in Germany. Recently it was another architect, the Spanish Anna Puigjaner, who investigated the possibility of a "Kitchenless" House that would follow the change of habits and family structures in contemporary times. 

In the same way, the 12 international students who worked on the workshop studied a kitchen that was no longer confined to the domestic sphere, but widespread and integrated in various city contexts. Of the four projects submitted, examined by a jury of chefs, designers and architects, the one awarded was the Cucina Marte by Robert Al Haddad, Luís Pacheco and Eesha Kulkarni. The young designers created a space that combines office and dining, investigating and revolutionising the rhythms and rituals of the day.
