Infinity pool enhances Bangkok’s skyline

A continuous line exalts the profile of the water surface placed between the two blocks of the luxury hotel designed by Kohn Pederson Fox Associates.

Designed by Kohn Pederson Fox Associates (KPF), the Rosewood Bangkok hotel fits into the ultra-modern landscape of the Thai capital, with a sharp steel and glass structure 30 stories high, but without forgetting the ancient culture of the place: its silhouette recalls wai, the traditional Thai gesture of the hands joined as a sign of greeting; water, a sacred element in the local culture, is present in all the environments of the hotel, which houses apartments with private pools, four starred restaurants, spas and fitness areas, conference rooms and exhibition spaces.

One of the most spectacular elements of the luxury hotel is the infinity pool at the base of the two large architectural blocks. This is yet another tribute to the city of Bangkok, built on water, and a device that enhances the skyline of the metropolis. A linear sign of light highlights the edges of the water mirror, giving impetus to its geometries. The lighting design is by studio Be Lit, which chose Rio Sub LED profiles by L&L (Luce & Light), an Italian company specialising in the design and production of quality lighting systems for interiors and exteriors.

The designers chose a warm and continuous light, in contrast with the blue background of the pool. Rio Sub is a recessed luminaire used in underwater environments up to ten meters deep, which is equipped with an intelligent protection system to prevent the device from water infiltration.
