Lenovo Ego is a cheap smartwatch with surprising features

It packs a lot of sensors inside an inexpensive plastic case with a vintage sportwatch design.

Lenovo has launched the Ego, a new smartwatch that’s both inexpensive and full of smart features.  It only costs 29$, but it comes with Bluetooth connectivity, iOS and Android compatibility, a 42mm touchscreen, vibrational feedback, a 24-hour heart rate monitor and 50-meter water resistance with swim tracking. Last but not least, the battery can endure 20 days of full-on usage on a single recharge.
To lower the price as much as possible the Lenovo designer have saved big on a couple of key elements: the display is monochrome and just lets you see the time and a status indicator, while the housing is made out of molded plastic and makes the watch look like a cheap replica of a Casio G-Shock. The Ego also lacks a microphone, but still has a small speaker (to set alarms). So far Lenovo has announced the new smartwatch only for the Indian market and it’s still not clear if a wider international rollout will follow.
