The transition to electric vehicles has brought a wave of innovation to the car market. Touchscreens, over-the-air updates, SIM cards in the glovebox, and autonomous driving features are the new normal. All this technology can add to the driving experience, yet it could also clutter it, and make it feel just like another extension of our smartphone addiction. The new TC2 by the Dutch car startup Carice is trying to swerve in a completely different direction. The all-electric roadster delivers zero-emission driving without all of the digital clutter, combining electric propulsion with the analog simplicity of classic sports cars.

The TC2's design looks like a blend between the not-from-this-era elegance of a Morgan roadster and the playful, rounded forms of modern Chinese electric cars like the ORA 03. What makes it special is its weight: 590 kg including the battery pack. The light construction delivers great handling and efficiency, with a range exceeding 300 km. The analog dashboard features classic gauges and flip switches instead of buttons or touchscreens. Carice Cars is a Netherlands-based company built by automotive enthusiasts with a penchant for classic car culture. In that vein, the TC2 is and will remain a niche project: each car will be made to order with customizable colors and finishes, with prices starting at €44,500.
