If you always wanted an Apple-1 computer, and you have about 300,000 dollars at hand, then you might just have a chance to score one. Boston-based auction house RR Auction has one for sale right now, together with 172 further items connected to the history of Apple.
From checks to IBM signed by Steve Jobs to a series of vintage Apple computers, the auction lots span 49 years of Apple history. The items range from classic to weird and include an original Apple Watch, which is just a wristwatch with an Apple logo on the watch face, several sealed first-generation iPhones and iPods, autographed pictures, and a pair of quirky colorful Apple-shaped glasses that Steve Wozniak ordered from an optometrist in 1979.
Our favorite item, from a design perspective, is a rare Apple portable with a clear plastic case. You could transport it to today, tell people it is a new digital distraction-free typewriter from Teenage Engineering, and very few would doubt it. The selection is quite an interesting dive into modern computer history and does a great job of showing how much and how fast our tech devices have changed within a relatively short span of time.
The auction by RR Auction is ending on August 21, and the house admits international bidders as well.
