While Luigi Vietti's role in the reconstruction of postwar Milan has often been little considered, his intervention in what are now Italy's luxury tourism hotspots has never been questioned: first the villas in Cortina d'Ampezzo, then the urban development of Portofino, and finally the myth of the Costa Smeralda, under the "patronage" of the Aga Khan, which resulted in one of the most remarkable moments of his career.
Since the formation of the Costa Smeralda Consortium in 1962 at the urging of the Aga Khan, this land in the northern part of Sardinia has become a place of experimentation for a group of architects, including Michele Busiri Vici, Jacques Couelle, Antonio Simon Mossa and Vietti himself, who began the construction of many of the island's most iconic houses, such as the famous Villa La Cerva.
Between these, there is one in Porto Cervo, with direct access to the Giglio beach: a villa pieds dans l'eau that fits into the landscape by recalling local materials and Mediterranean tones, for an architecture "a la Vietti," that is, as if it had always been there.
In a plot of about 1,800 square meters, enveloped by a Mediterranean garden cared for like a living work of art, the project is developed on a single floor, according to a horizontal conception of space that enhances the direct relationship between interior and exterior. The 213 sqm interior naturally expands outward through large covered terraces, patios, solariums and a scenic swimming pool, conceived not as accessory spaces but as authentic extensions of living.
The house consists of a large living room overlooking the covered veranda characterized by Vietti's typical lowered arches. Inside, the living area continues to a dining room and an eat-in kitchen, while the sleeping area consists of a master suite and two other bedrooms, all of which have a private bathroom.

Recently, the villa has been partly renovated by the Lesuisse studio--which in recent years seems to have picked up Vietti's baton in contemporary villas on the Emerald Coast--and is now for sale through Lionard's brokerage for 10 million euros.
