The first car with a screen instead of a front grille is by Faraday Future

Faraday Future's upcoming FX Super One is a car with a face. A literal one. The company's new MPV comes with a front display in place of a grille. Faraday calls it the F.A.C.E. System, an acronym for Front AI Communication Ecosystem, and claims it will let you show your own AI avatar so that your car can "express emotion." While the grille is admittedly superfluous on a non-ICE vehicle, we seriously doubt a front-facing display would be a step forward in terms of usefulness. While Faraday has shown some examples of what the display could show (from videos to weather updates and, of course, a personalized AI assistant) we still fail to grasp why customers would want such a potentially expensive element on a very exposed front bumper.

Faraday positioned its "AI-MPV" as superior to traditional minivans, promising better luxury, power, and handling than both minivans and large SUVs. While no specific price was announced, the company described the FX Super One as having "premium pricing" that would still match traditional minivans in total ownership costs. There were also no mentions, unsurprisingly, of how much it would cost to repair the video grille after a minor fender-bender that would normally result in just a few scratches.
