The Museum der Moderne in Berlin, designed by the Swiss architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron, represents one of the most significant architectural developments in recent years. Located in the heart of the Kulturforum, between the Neue Nationalgalerie and the Berlin Philharmonic, the museum acts as a bridge between tradition and modernity. The project, selected in 2016, was conceived to host and create a dialogue among the 20th-century collections of the Nationalgalerie, with a particular focus on the Ulla and Heiner Pietzsch collection, as well as the Kupferstichkabinett and Kunstbibliothek collections.
The building, featuring an innovative design that combines traditional and contemporary materials, stands out for its ability to integrate art, architecture, and urban planning. It is envisioned not only as an exhibition space but also as a place for cultural engagement and reflection, in line with the legacy of the Kulturforum.
The construction, managed by Bundesbau Baden-Württemberg, represents a continuous dialogue between past and future, with an emphasis on sustainability and social inclusion.
