Ink brings the M6GT, a testament to Bruce McLaren’s car design, back to life

London-based Ink Design Studio has created a new CG rendition of the 1969 McLaren M6GT for its Plainbody series, which collects minimalist, modern renderings of great vintage cars.

London-based design studio INK has unveiled the McLaren M6GT as the latest addition to its Plainbody series. Known for its minimalistic portrayal of historic race cars, the series now includes the M6GT alongside icons like the Porsche 917 and the Ford GT40. The project’s title, ‘Bruce’s Unfinished Masterpiece,’ honors Bruce McLaren, the founder of McLaren Racing, and revives the legacy of the M6GT as a new minimalistic CG rendition.

Bruce McLaren originally envisioned the M6GT in the late 1960s as the fastest road car ever made. However, the M6GT remained unfinished due to regulatory challenges and McLaren’s untimely death in 1970. INK’s latest project pays homage to the founder’s vision, blending modern technology with the car’s timeless design.

By recovering this lost legend as a CG redesign, INK offers car enthusiasts and admirers of McLaren’s legacy a glimpse of what could have been if chance and fate hadn't curbed McLaren’s expression of automotive innovation.
