Brad Pitt buys the Steel House in Los Angeles for $5.5 million

The house, in the hills of Los Feliz, is a “small” midcentury jewel.

Left without a foothold in Los Angeles, Brad Pitt – famous architecture lover – bought one of the villas that have made the history of the city: the Steel House, a small steel and glass pavilion built in 1960 in the hills of Los Feliz and designed by the little-known Neil M. Johnson.

The house, which has an L-shaped plant and occupies an area of about 185 square meters, in the past belonged to James Valentine of Maroon 5 – who had it carefully renovated by designer Mark Haddawy – and to Aileen Getty, grandson of a famous oil magnate, who then sold it to Pitt. Since 2019, the value of the property has risen from $4.5 million to $5.5 million.

The house has a living room with modern fireplace, kitchen, three large bedrooms, a main bathroom, pale blue walk-in closet, blue carpeting, a patio overlooking the pool and a terrace from which to see the sparkling lights of Los Angeles. There is also a hot tub surrounded by tropical plants and an independent sauna.
