Pet-tecture: a book on pets’ design

Collected in a volume the various structures that welcome our pets: cats, dogs, goldfish and everything that can have a home.

“Pet-tecture. Design for pets” published by Phaidon (14,95£) is first and foremost a fun book. It comes out on 27 September and is already a potential cult object, a must-have, a Christmas present, a unique source of inspiration. Yes, because animal kennels (domestic or not) are important design elements as much as a bed, a lamp, a chair. They are real defined structures that require an architect's design to complement the interiors of a house or the exterior of a garden. This volume collects works by designers and brands from around the world, including Nendo, Kenya Hara, Sou Fujimoto, MAD Architects, Shigeru Ban and Ikea. Kitchens but not only: play structures, stables, bee nests, in the book there is also a glass cage for birds that recalls a Zen garden, and a ball where to put the red fishes fluid like the liquid it contains. Sheep, bats and rabbits, horses and fish, mice and guinea pigs, kangaroos and turtles: each animal has its own design haunt.
