As the summer season ends and large numbers of travellers return home, the quality of the airport experience once again takes centre stage, with a ranking drawn from the opinions of those who have spent hours or even days in these terminals between flights.
The new list of the best airports in Europe for 2025 has been compiled by Holidu, a platform specialising in holiday home rentals, which analysed thousands of Google Maps reviews to identify the 50 most appreciated airports among passengers.
At the top of the list is Istanbul Airport, which takes first place for the second consecutive year thanks to its high-quality infrastructure and services, earning a score of 4.4 based on 106,000 reviews. Following closely behind, with the same rating, are Francisco de Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto and Helsinki Airport in Finland, which climbs to third place, improving its position compared to the previous year.
Spain stands out with three airports in the top fifteen, while Greece secures the fourth and eighth spots with Athens and Thessaloniki. Other countries appearing in the top ranks include Switzerland (5th), Malta (7th), and Latvia (9th). Among the Italian airports, Leonardo Da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport in Rome ranks 12th, with a score of 4.2 based on 53,000 reviews, rising compared to last year and outperforming Milan Linate (19th) and Milan Malpensa (46th).
