Domus 1013 on newsstands

In the May special edition guest-edited by Fulvio Irace, Domus recounts the country’s peculiarity with projects by Renzo Piano, Caruso+Torricella, Canali, C+S Architects and texts by Emilio Ambasz, Chiara Alessi, Francesca Molteni, Italo Lupi, Vanni Pasca among others. A collector’s edition!

The May special issue, that comes from an idea of Domus’s publisher, Giovanna Mazzocchi, and is guest-curated by Fulvio Irace with Leonardo Sonnoli as creative director recounts Italy’s peculiarity, its presence outside the country, its industrial excellence and the territory.

This issue is divided in seven sections: Seen from afar with the photograpic project by Martin Feiersinger and an exhibition on the Coliseum iconography. Italy outside Italy features Gio Ponti’s Villa Nemazee in Teheran, now in a dangerous situation; Renzo Piano Building Workshop’s project of the Columbia University Manhattanville in New York and several projects for Techint around the world by Caruso Torricella Architetti.

  The section Un unexpected side of Italy is a survey on the excellence of Italian industry with texts by Chiara Alessi and Francesca Molteni, includes a history of la Rinascente, and a text by Vanni Pasca on design schools. New Italian Landscapes features the project by Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas of the Nuovo centro congressi Roma-EUR; two projects by Vincenzo Latina in Sicily; the industrial complex Elatech in Brembilla by Italo Rota and the School complex in Fontaniva by C+S Architects.In Nuovi paesaggi italiani si trovano i progetti di Massimiliano e Doriana Fuksas con il Nuovo centro congressi Roma-EUR; due progetti di Vincenzo Latina in Sicilia; il complesso industriale Elatech a Brembilla di Italo Rota e il Complesso scolastico a Fontaniva di C+S Architects.

Finally Backbone underlines the seismic fragility of Italy and Places and Art takes in consideration the Galleria nazionale d’arte moderna e contemporanea in Roma, three subway stations in Naples and the Museo delle statue stele lunigianesi in Pontremoli.
