In Stockholm suburb Järfälla, as part of a broader urban development program, ten international design talents have been asked to reconsider the concept of the traditional park bench whilst retaining its sole function of providing an urban meeting place to sit or relax. The designers upgraded existing benches or created entirely new designs for Kvarnbacken park with the potential of becoming permanent if they are appreciated and used by locals in the area.

Super benches is one of several initiatives of Kalejdohill – a two-year urban development project (2016-2018) that through the use of temporary installations, design and architecture will give life to the area, form a dialogue with civil society and help shape the planning process for future housing development and urban landscaping of this growing Swedish municipality.
