BMW Art Car

The BMW Art Car designed by John Baldessari at Miami Basel is the company’s nineteenth edition and reinterprets the main elements of the conceptual artist’s career.

The 19th vehicle of the BMW Art Car Collection presented in Miami Basel was designed by the American master of conceptual art John Baldessari and presented at the Botanical Garden of Miami Beach. The model used is a BMW M6 GTLM race car.

BMW Group has been presenting its Art Cars in Miami Beach and Hong Kong for many years, including the works by Jeff Koons, Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Rauschenberg. Designing the car, the American artist turned to well-known stylistic devices and put together his creative practices of the past fifty years.

As a committed minimalist, he worked with the colours red, yellow, blue and green and with his monochrome dots. With “FAST” as a central typographic element the artist transports the power of the BMW Art Car to its outside, making it visually accessible for the viewers both at the race track and at the museum.
