Cubitts King’s Cross

Using Flying Scotsman green, British handmade-eyeware workshop Cubitts, opens its headquarters in King’s Cross taking inspiration from the local industrial traditions.

British handmade eyeware brand Cubitts opens today its new headquarters in King’s Cross, London, in a building that has spent the last twenty years in a state of dereliction. Like its other outlets, the new Cubitts workshop takes inspiration from the surrounding neighborhood.

The idea behind the brand was first developed in King’s Cross and its name is taken from Cubitt Street, itself a homage to the Victorian engineering brothers who helped make King’s Cross the centre of Britain’s rail network. The décor of the new shop takes cues from the history of the area celebrating the railway heritage of King’s Cross by painting the building exterior in Flying Scotsman green. The workshop offer a range of handmade frames and sunglasses available to buy, as well as a service which enables people to have a design specialist for custom-made spectacles.
