Misaki Kawai is a young Japanese artist who’s active in New York and Japan. She works with painting, dolls and installations in materials like cloth, felt, paper mache, wood, stickers and yarn. Her pieces are humorous, sincere, and playful.

Misaki Kawai’s work is full of references to American and Japanese pop and comic-book culture. And she doesn’t stick to just two-dimensional representation of her quirky and humorous universe. She turns it into oversized and inviting installations too.

For the last year and a half, Tiger’s Danish designers have been working with the young Japanese artist on a whole series of quirky and colourful everyday items for children and adults.
