The latest take on the “task-light” (slang for desk lamp), Volée designed by Odoardo Fioravanti, stems from reflection on changing work and life styles – from the “workstation” to “working in any location” - that have also spawned a more profound concept centred on the very use of the lamp.

Volée is switched on by a tennis-like gesture, simply moving a hand under the head of the lamp
triggers an electronic device that switches it on/off without any contact; a touch sensor above its head regulates the light flow.

The tension for the hidden spring-balancing mechanism is provided by steel wires coated with a coloured polymer. The lamp features extruded-aluminium structural rods, die-cast aluminium joints and mechanical steel wires with a coloured covering.
