Ease partition system

Andreas Engesvik and Jens Fager created for the manufacturer Edsbyn a partition system made out of recycled PET bottles: a light structure easy to move around to make new configurations.

Partitioning of space is very much about the ergonomics of a group of people – not only the individual – so it has to be flexible and dynamic.

Andreas Engesvik and Jens Fager developed for Edsbyn a partition system thin and visually light that appears as a structure of elements that you intuitively can read. The system is made out of recycled PET bottles. This material is light in weight, easy to shape, and again – closer to us as humans – it resembles clothing – something that relate to us and our bodies.

The fiber are pressed in big moulds to obtain the layers of felt that surrounds the light internal structure of aluminium tubes and wood slates. Everything is then heated up and then cooled down. This particular manufacturing process allows to industrialize the product and also turn it into a proper product.

Many of the existing products in the market today are built in a very old fashioned manner, which makes them heavy, less mobile etc. Ease it is very efficient, but demands big investments in tooling.
