At the Spazio Zegna in Milan’s Tortona district, the Korean giant stages its own idea of design in a fascinating installation, as a key to simplifying and improving everyday life.

“Flows: a Journey to the Future” is a journey undertaken by Samsung into design and innovation. Starting from the present, the installation is set in the artistic representation of a still hazy future. Ideally broken down into four phases, the installation projects the visitor into a journey to the future through the decomposition and recomposition of matter into new forms.

In the first stage - the present – displays five key products from Samsung’s world of electrical appliances, created to rethink daily life in terms of minor domestic chores. Then the present is deconstructed by deconstructing material: a process that reveals design innovations hidden in familiar objects. The elements comprising the five appliances thus begin to spread out. Suspended in mid-air, their diverse component parts – physical and technological but also conceptual – are deconstructed, disclosed and suspended to recreate a dynamic arrangement. In the third phase, that of evolution, the pieces converge into a single flow and are joined by lights and screens of different sizes that project animated graphics and intermingle to form a long and continuous canvas. The final part of the installation – the future – marks the beginning of the daily adventure of living, to be viewed with hope and curiosity.
