The Brazilian designer Guto Indio da Costa tests the scope for a thermoplastic polymer, patented by the American company, on an oven exhibited at Rio+design during Milan Design Week.

At the end of a visit to the best of Brazilian creativity, covering mostly furniture, jewels and other articles at the “Rio+design” show, comes the oven designed by Guto Indio da Costa, part of a team of around seventy people who work on diverse fronts for the office founded by his father.

It is he who deals with the design side, and this is the second time he has collaborated with Celanese, the US brand that patented the thermoplastic polymer CelstranR LFT (the first time on a chair).

The biggest advantage of this material is its energy efficiency: it heats faster than metal and saves 30% energy on the same cooking results. The makers guarantee its non-toxicity and resistance to chemical cleaning agents. The Milan test could speed up the development of a product to be marketed.
