Paperloo is a new eco-friendly chess set designed by Andrea Vecera for Italian manufacturer Skitsch. Both the pieces and the board are made of corrugated cardboard, ensuring that they are lightweight, eco-friendly, and surprisingly durable.

The laser-cut pieces are comprised of two interlocking sections, cutting down on production costs through the manual assembly that players undertake, and easily transforming a flat surface into a stylised set.

In keeping with the sustainable theme, ink use is minimal throughout the product, limited to the chequering of the boards surface, minimalist product description, and instructions on the packaging.

This is the first product Vecera (who studied Industrial Design at the Faculty of Architecture, Turin Polytechnic) has designed for Skitsch, adding to an already impressive list of clients which include the likes of Kinder Ferrero, United Pets and Guido Castagna.
