Fumi placed a competition in April this year with two
renowned design schools, the
Royal College of Art in London, UK and the ECAL/Haute
école d’art et de design in
Lausanne, Switzerland, for their students to produce an
original design for a mirror,
defined in the brief as ‘an object which enables reflection’.

With a broad definition to give the students freedom in
their creativity and their choice
of materials. Of the entries, six winners were selected by
a judging panel and one
selected by the Gallery. All prototypes were commissioned
by FUMI and are exhibited
in this space during London Design Festival and Frieze Art
Fair.
The judging panel included Humberto and Fernando
Campana - designers, Giles
Deacon – fashion designer, Marcus Fairs – editor of
Deezeen, Michelle Ogundehin –
editor in chief of Elle Decoration magazine and Caroline
Roux – writer and consultant.
