Just a few kilometres from Valencia, Spanish architects RAUM 4142 Architecture Office and Javier Cabanes reinvent the interiors of a dental practice located in the basement of a 1980s building. To break the equation that links a visit to the dentist to a generalized sense of uneasiness, their intervention focuses on canceling predictability and encouraging exchange.
A clinic chases away the fear of the dentist with the energy of color
Redesigned through a new articulation between public spaces and private corners, a dental surgery cancels the static nature of the waiting room and infuses optimism through targeted fluo colours.

The open plan of the clinic has been redesigned through the insertion of independent micro-perforated miniature sheet metal boxes, designed to ensure the operation and privacy of healthcare workers. Around, the space declined in shades of gray lights up with calibrated and energizing color inserts for the fixtures, creating a square that goes beyond the habits of the waiting room as a place of stasis and opens to the clients’ movement, starting with that of children.
