In the whiteness of a minimalist apartment in Rome the yellow bookcase becomes protagonist

A bookcase in yellow perforated metal sheets acts as a balance axis in the renovation of an apartment by Supervoid studio.

Studio Supervoid, composed by Italian architect Marco Provinciali and Chilean architect Benjamin Gallegos Gabilondo, renovated an apartment distributed on two floors for a total area of 110 sqm.

In order to create a new living room together with the kitchen in a single large space, they moved the existing staircase connected with the mansard, which houses the bedrooms.

In the minimalist white apartment, the new staircases, linearly leaning against a wall, now become the axis of equilibrium of the house together with a full-height passageway bookcase made of yellow perforated metal panels, which meets the ceiling of the upper mansard.

On the second floor this large equipped-wall joins the steps and the upper parapet made of the same material but lacquered in white, creating an interesting optical effect that is multiplied by a mirrored cupboard, which contrasts instead with the dark parquet used on the floor.
