After Nodus, Exto has arrived. The watchword: experimentation

The cloister of San Simpliciano once again hosts, under its porticoes, carpets by Nodus and the first exhibit by Exto, a new-born project dedicated to furniture.

We know Nodus, a carpet brand born from the furniture company Il Piccolo by Andrea Galimberti, thanks to its peculiarities: top craftsmanship, originality and experimentation. With the brand Exto, also created by Galimberti, we find the same characteristics: “Exto will be less artistic but equally innovative,” states the entrepreneur.

Nodus keeps enriching its collection with important names: Alessandra Baldereschi, Marco Carini, Faberhama, Maarten Baas, Kiki Van Eijck, Nendo and Laureline Galliot  “The most exciting part is studying and following the designers to then collaborate together. Sharing the creative and production process allows us to grow,” says Galimberti.
We need only look at Flatter by Maarten Bass: “I designed a nice interior, but just when I was finished, a big steam-roller entered the room. [...] However, it became a great carpet.” Or allow our eyes to follow the continuous line of One Stroke Blu (or Red) by Nendo to understand these are non-conventional carpets. If the only hesitation up to now has been the cost, Galimberti assures that “we are preparing a new system to order customised design carpets, even at affordable prices”.

Exto enters the design scene with equally prestigious names: Lanzavecchia+Wai, Francesco Faccin, Lorenzo Damiani, Paolo Cappello, Constance Guisset, Sam Baron and Matali Crasset. The drawer system Overlooking by Lorenzo Damiani is the epitome of subtle design intelligence, and the winged handles of the drawers also act as storage for “objects in passing or books waiting to be read,” explains Damiani. The cupboard Clockwork by Lanzavecchia+Wai, according to the designer Francesca, “is the celebration of functional elements that are normally hidden, like zippers, which become piercings”. The table Quattrogambe by Francesco Faccin is the sum of mechanics and aesthetics: counters and legs are interchangeable, thanks to a slotting system where the user can give life to countless combinations.
