Studio Kapitza’s colorful patterns for a washi tape

MT Masking Tape, the traditional rice paper tape produced by Japanese company Kamoi, gets dressed up in the vibrant, geometric graphics of the London-based multidisciplinary studio.

MT Masking Tape is the adhesive tape produced by the Japanese company Kamoi Kakoshi, which has been manufacturing high-quality adhesive products for industrial and decorative use for more than 100 years. Thanks to the collaboration with a series of international designers, the washi tape – the traditional Japanese tape made of rice paper – has been realized in many graphic versions.

The latest collection is designed by Studio Kapitza: colorful geometries, circles and lines in bright tones, or graphic contrasts in black and white run on the paper surface. Founded in 2004 by designers and artists Petra and Nicole Kapitza, the London-based multidisciplinary studio explores geometric shapes, mathematical formulas and organic structures of nature, then brings them into its creations.

The tape can be applied to a variety of surfaces, from paper to metal, wood to porcelain, and can be removed without leaving a trace.
