Alon Dodo is a designer-craftsman who has made quality self-production his signature style. His furniture is mainly made of wood, a material that he works strictly by hand and whose intrinsic potential never runs out and continues to offer him new stylistic and compositional possibilities.
The Carved collection is composed of variants that are always different from each other, with multiple surface treatments, including inlay, combined with inserts of leather, brass, bronze, iron, corian and marble. His latest work consists of tables and benches whose legs are obtained from the carving of solid oak.
The joints are camouflaged by the rough carving effect of natural wood that contrasts with the black lacquer of the top, in which brass plates repair (or highlight) the pre-existing cracks. The table is 2.20 x 1 meter long while the bench measures 1.5 meters x 35 cm. The deliberate contrast between the naïve natural woodwork and the kintsugi reference on the wood give the ensemble an discreet dynamism.
Between primitivism and precision: the new collection by Alon Dodo
The Israeli designer continues his research on the dynamism of wood and metal inserts with a collection that has a strong artisanal character.
