Planar table by Studio F takes inspiration from the world of aviation

Designed by Tommaso Spinzi, it combines the lightness of the coplanar lines of aeroplanes with the delicacy of natural wood.

In 2020, being a designer necessarily means being constantly confronted with the theme of sustainability. This is why Studio F focuses on the reasoned processing of solid wood: “Our production is based on wood obtained through a recovery process: we trace ancient logs present in our territory and destined for felling for many reasons”. Studio F is a real atelier-laboratory, founded in 2017 by self-taught designers Federico Boschiazzi and Francesco Lucchetti, later joined by Francesco Valfrè and a team of five people.

Among the studio's new projects is Planar, a table designed by Tommaso Spinzi for Movimento Club, a new online platform of young creatives born from an idea of Artefatto Design Studio. Planar is a handcrafted, customizable table, whose shapes take inspiration from the world of aviation, where the soft grain of the wood is left exposed making each piece somehow unique. “Tommaso is a designer who transmits many of his passions to his pencil and is inspired by them,” says Federico Boschiazzi. “Planar, through its lines, wants to recall the tapered profiles of aeroplanes, the shapes of the aviation world. The wood used, through its grain, creates the right contrast between the design and the material that gives balance to the piece. The table becomes a sculptural piece of furniture”.
