Vision AVTR, James Cameron's “alien” concept car

Mercedes-Benz collaborates with the director of Avatar, Aliens and The Abyss to create a luxury electric vehicle that looks to the circular economy.

It has four engines, vegan seats and recyclable batteries. Presented in a preview at CES 2020, Vision AVTR is the new concept car that Mercedes-Benz has launched in collaboration with James Cameron and AVATAR Films. The vehicle aims to fill the gap between luxury cars and environmental sustainability thanks to the implementation of fully compostable graphene batteries that guarantee 700 km of autonomy. The organicist bodyshell - an inevitable reference to the 2009 Oscar-winning film - features 33 bionic flaps which, a bit like scales, can track information from the surrounding environment. The rounded shape of the wheels allows the car to move diagonally - "like a crab" - at an angle of 30 degrees. On contact with the driver's hand, the console placed between the two seats can record biometric parameters, enhancing human-machine interaction.
