Brooklyn-based designer Kai Ming Yang created Bamboo Metal, a series of objects including small tables and shelves. The designer is used to combine different materials, aiming to understand and explore everyday objects, showing also history and human behavior. In this project, old techniques of bamboo joinery used for furniture and even for house construction in the past are kept as a reference to make home furniture, transforming bamboo into metal. The result is a green tubular series of pieces that can be adapted to the needs: tubes hold different geometric surfaces – triangular or circular – creating tables or shelves.
