Wellness center in Beijing that looks like an aquarium

The Spa and clinic of traditional Chinese medicine designed by Waterfrom Design, leads the customer through a sensory journey made of arches, plants, minerals, soft lights and silence.

Aqua Health Clinic combines a wellness centre and a traditional Chinese medicine clinic. The Chinese architecture firm Waterfrom Design has been called upon to give shape to a space capable of upsetting the typical aesthetics associated with Chinese medicine clinics.

The project of spatialities plastically modelled in plan and in section, the experimental use of materials coated on the surfaces and also used to mold objects decorating the rooms, recreate a space-time atmosphere difficult to synchronize with the outside.

Large windows on the street frame an environment with a marine atmosphere. At the entrance, a reception, similar to the ticket office of an art museum, welcomes the customers. The internal arches, similar to caves, the vaults and the visual axes that follow the twists of the walls, define the spaces. Sea-blue screens and traditional Chinese medicine plants and minerals statically placed in luminous glass cases recreate the scene of each rooms, stimulating the client's vision and imagination. A sheet of copper, only partially polished at face level, unexpectedly reflects the visitors in the restrooms.
