FreelandBuck has made an installation in cooperation with Mini Living at the Los Angeles Festival in 2018. It is called “Urban Cabin” and is a continuous installation that travels in cities and is adapted by local architects. Each variation is studied in a limited space inspired by its surroundings, in order to demonstrate the various space saving approaches producing unique identities.

The Urban Cabin in Los Angeles is made up of two pre-set external residential sections that are flanked by a central space designed. Although the microcabin as a residential type generally focuses on efficiency within a small space, this in Los Angeles is studied in a public space to enhance the collective experience. FreelandBuck focused on extending the perceptive boundaries and the contemplative life of a living space through spatial effects and assemblies of experimental materials. Two nested boxes built with an aluminum frame are wrapped in translucent polycarbonate molded with the image of a third box that seems to be projected through the structure. There is a hanging garden that forms another cubic volume suspended from the enclosure.
