Magnificenza e Progetto

Two collateral events by Cosmit for the Furniture Fair: the exhibition “Magnificenza e Progetto” at Palazzo Reale and a light installation by Cerith Wyn Evans.

From Gian Lorenzo Bernini to Gio Ponti, Achille Castiglioni, Filippo Juvarra, Antonia Astori, Andrea Branzi and Alberto Meda. The exhibition organised this year by the Fondazione Cosmit Eventi in collaboration with the Milan City Council presents a direct comparison between two distant worlds: on one hand that of classic Italian furniture, starting with the Renaissance and leading on to the 18th century and Imperial furnishings, and on the other modern and contemporary Italian design from the second half of the 20th century. From 22 April to 21 June, at Palazzo Reale, the exhibition “Magnificenza e Progetto” offers visitors to the Furniture Fair a chance to discover Italian high-artisan culture through 500 years of great Italian furniture. The event is directed by Luigi Settembrini and curated by Enrico Colle and Manolo De Giorgi (for the contemporary section) with exhibition design by Mario Bellini and graphic design by Italo Lupi. In Palazzo Reale’s courtyard, Welsh artist Cerith Wyn Evans has set up a light installation: a 7-metre-long neon tube that winds around itself and appears to float in midair.

Designing from a single gesture: Vaselli’s latest collection

The Hoop series translates a morphological gesture into a family of travertine bathroom furnishings, where the poetry of the material meets the rigor of form.
