Kunihiro Tsuji calls himself a “sound space designer”. In plainer words, this Japanese designer designs environments suited to containing and reproducing certain acoustic effects. At the Milan Furniture Fair he presented his latest invention, an acoustic speaker that transmits sound via a glass resonance chamber, filled with water and placed on four slender steel legs.

The speaker sits on the water’s surface, as if it were floating, while the audio cables, passing through one of the legs so as to remain invisible, can be connected to any kind of amplifier. The idea of using water came from observing the human body (made up of 70 per cent water). What other environment – it should be noted – could ensure a more faithful reproduction of the voice? E.S.
